With 2014 underway, wedding season is upon us. Each year new colors, dress styles, and other aspects of weddings become trends. What’s hot and what’s not is an important part of wedding planning. To ensure that your 2014 wedding is a hit, our wedding music planner and Raleigh DJs have compiled a list of all the most important wedding trends for the year!
Raleigh DJs: 2014 Wedding Trends!
The color pink. Whether it’s your wedding dress, bridesmaids’ dress colors, or the flowers, pink is a major hit for the upcoming season!
Formality is a must. White gloved servers at the Raleigh wedding reception, crystal candelabras, and old-world class is important if you are hoping to pull off a Great Gatsby style formal wedding and reception.
Patterns. Hard edged patterns like chevron prints are out, but new, soft patterns are in! Lattice style prints, stripes and floral are the new chevron.
Tree peony. This multi-pedaled flower is more popular than ever! It’s soft, elegant, and pairs perfectly with all of the above trends.
Flower garlands. Deck out all surfaces with flower garlands if you want to be on top of the trends. Incorporating citrus into the garlands will be a hit, as well. Doorways, bars, the aisle in which you’ll walk down; all of these are important areas that you could incorporate this trend.
Hand drawn illustrations on invitations. Hiring a freelance artist to custom draw an image for your invitations is a great way to add a personal touch to extend to your guests!
Small invitations. Don’t make the mistake of getting the standard 5×7 sized invitations this wedding season. The smaller the better is key for invitation trends. Keep it short and sweet.
Make it spicy. According to the huffingtonpost.com, use “a lot of Calabrian chili oil, a lot of Sriracha.” Guests are reaching for the spicy things first!
Family style. Don’t expect 2014 wedding receptions to follow through with the old world, classy and elegant style when it comes to serving food. Family style bowls of food, placed directly on the table for self service is becoming the most popular way to serve guests for dinner!
